Hakeem Bakare (CMA, PhD) Chairman Board of Directors
Dr Bakare holds a BSc and an MSc in Economics from the Kharkov State University (Ukraine); a PhD in Economics awarded by the Kiev State University of Economics (Ukraine); a PGD in Applied Information Technology awarded by the Information Technology Institute, Ottawa (Canada) and a PGD in Islamic Banking and Insurance awarded by the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance, London (UK). He has also earned the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation from the Institute of Certified Management Accountant (ICMA), USA.
Starting his career in teaching in the old USSR, he lectured at the Kharkov State University (Ukraine) and later at the Algonquin College, Ontario (Canada) before commencing a consultancy career in the Application of Information and Communication Technology.
During his IT solutions career, he delivered Business Process Re-engineering services to many of the leading global business giants, including MCI Telecommunication, USA (now Verizon); Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), AON Reed Insurance, Canada; Kmart Corporation, USA and PeopleSoft, USA (now Oracle Corp.)
Dr Bakare returned to Nigeria in 2003 as the Group Head, Corporate Strategy of SystemSpecs Limited a position he occupied until April, 2012. At SystemSpecs, amongst other things, he managed the development of Remita, an electronic payment solution connected to all the Nigerian commercial banks and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from conception to deployment.
He actively supports governments at various levels in policy formulation without bias for political party affiliation. Since 2007 to date, Dr. Bakare has volunteered his services to the Central Bank of Nigeria on the creation of the regulatory frameworks and guidelines for successful implementation of the National Payment System (NPS) Vision 2020. He is the founder and financier of www.ekiti.com.
He was a Students Unions activist in his university days. He was a founding Secretary of Nigeria Windsor Community, Ontario, Canada. He has delivered papers on youth self-empowerment on various youth platforms, including several Nigerian university campuses.
In recent times (2012), DrBakare returned formally to his first love, teaching, by joining the Crescent University, Nigeria to enable him share the gains of his cross-Atlantic career with the future generation.
Dr. Bakare is married with children, some of whom are current students of Al-Hijrah College.
TawfiqAgbaje is currently an Engineering Project Lead with one of the Oil & Gas leading Multinationals.
Graduating in 1995 with a Mechanical Engineering degree, he had a brief stint within the oil & gas service sector before moving on to the prestigious UACN management training scheme from where he subsequently joined one of the oil majors. His career in the oil major has seen him move through Project Development and Project Planning & Project Execution
His involvement in educational development spans over 18 years starting with organization of volunteer summer vacation schools and quickly moving into school development. Schools in which he has been involved with their formation includes City Model School, Port Harcourt & At Tawheed Schools, Ado Ekiti.
On the development of Arabic and Islamic teachings, he was a part of the foundation Usool-l-ImanMadrassah, Lagos which is today gladdened with having produced under age ten fluent speakers of Arabic and is on its way to producing under ten Hafiz’l Qur’an in reasonably conducive environment without compromising the child’s other learning needs. (Insha Allah). It might be important to note here that this was achieved through very simple adjustments made to existing (traditional) teaching methodologies.
Tawfiq has been an active member of the Muslim Students Society for over twenty years and in his words, he is committed to maintaining his access to the youths in the hope that he can benefit from their energy and that, he might benefit the Muslim youths with some things life has taught him.
Tawfiq has attended various training and development programs locally and internationally spanning the field of leadership development, business development and Engineering.
On the private front, Tawfiq has organized various leadership training sessions for youths and he is doubly married with kids, one of whom is a current student of Al-Hijrah College.
He is a registered Engineer and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
Graduating with a major in Biochemistry from University of Ilorin (1992), Sheriff is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) and a member of the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and holds an MBA degree from University of Lagos, Nigeria
His professional career of almost two decades, commenced in the Firm of Z.O Ososanya& Co, then to Oyelami Soetan Adeleke & Co (now Baker Tilly Nigeria) where he cut his teeth as an auditor & business consultant over such wide-ranging areas of specialization as, Audit control & assurance, Business consulting, Privatization and Taxation in all of which he has come to acquire appreciable expertise and vast experience before joining a multinational Oil & Gas drilling company in 2002. Sheriff is presently the finance manager of another multinational Oil & Gas Drilling company in Lagos.
He has attended various training and development programs locally and internationally and has been involved in leadership training sessions for youths. He is married and blessed with children one of whom is a student of Al-hijrah College.
Dr Abideen Olaiya
AbideenOlaiya (PhD) is an educationist, a Muslim youth leader cum union activist and a grass-root politician.
Dr Olaiya obtained a first degree in Crop production from the Federal University of Technology Akure and subsequently obtained an MSc & a PhD from University of Ibadan. He is presently a lecturer at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. He has participated in various conferences at both the local and international scenes.
DrOlaiya”s interest in the education of the Muslim child was aroused when he was made the Chairman of Halal Nursery and Primary School, Ibadan in 1996. He later joined hands with others to establish CTY International School, Ibadan in 1999 followed by CTY Model College in 2005.
DrOlaiya is a former B Zone Coordinator of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria and remains an active member till date. He is doubly married and his marriages are blessed with children.
Adewale Da’wud Sulaiman
Sulaiman, Adewale Da’wud is currently the Group Head, Technical Operations and Maintenance with Galaxy Backbone PLC.
An Alumnus of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (Electronics and Electrical Engineering) and Manchester Business School (MBA, Engineering Management), Da’wud has over fifteen years Telecommunication experience spanning his early days at Micro Connection Nigeria Limited in the 90s, NCR (then AT & T Global Information Solutions) as one of the pioneer engineers that deployed SYSTIMAX Structured cabling system in Nigeria, SITA (SocieteInternationale De Telecommunication Aeronautiques), Gateway Communication (Previously GS Telecom and Spar Aerospace).
In his dynamic career, Da’wud has functioned in various roles which included Field Engineer, Project Manager, Regional Operations Manager, Network Operations Manager, Group Engineering Manager and his current role as Group Head, Technical Operations & Maintenance.
Over this career span, Da’wud has managed many infrastructures including Satellite and Terrestrial Earth Stations with various modems to Alcatel ATM Multiplexers, iDirect Hubs and over 40 transponders across Africa, Europe and US.
Daw’ud is very much involved in Muslim Child development work and is a key back-end promoter of the “guided-beginning” initiative. He is married with kids.
Abdur-Rahman T. Lawal is the CEO of KITS Technologies Limited.
Abdur-Rahman currently sits on the board of several organizations including KITS technologies, Locator Networks and Livewire Safety in addition to Al–Hijrah College.
Abdur-Rahman, a member of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) holds a B.Eng. Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering from the then Ondo State University Ado-Ekiti (OSUA) now Ekiti State University (EKSU). He has attended various local and International trainings, conferences, workshops and seminars on ICT and Business Administration.
Abdur-Rahman is committed to knowledge, experience and expertise sharing, particularly towards empowering young graduates and other beginners to become relevant and responsible individuals in the society through ICT. KITS technologies (a member of Association Of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON)), under his leadership, is the first company in Nigeria to practically institutionalize the initiative that ensures transfer of ICT knowledge ‘tuition FREE’ to young graduates. In the last 7 years, he has successfully coordinated the training of over 4,000 young individuals.
As part of his passion for healthy Muslim Child Education, he initiated the establishment of At-Tawheed Schools, Igbemo – Ekiti in 2009 and he is currently the Chairman, Shura Board, Ekiti State University Muslims Alumni Association.
He is married and blessed with children, one of whom is a pioneer student of Al-Hijrah College.
